Volunteer Opportunities"It seems that every day someone asks me 'what is all the excitement at the theater company?' I answer 'it is always exciting at the FTC.' You could not ask for a nicer group to work with. And there is always something to do. If you have a couple of extra hours a month, please consider volunteering some time with the Fredericksburg Theater Company. You will not be disappointed." - Jean Moffett, FTC Volunteer Coordinator UshersAs our patrons enter the theater, ushers take tickets, distribute programs, and assist guests to their seats. In addition, ushers may greet or serve wine and hors d'ourves. Training is available prior to the performance. Contact: Jean Moffett TicketingThe box office ticketers use our online ticketing system to reserve seats for donors and patrons. Ticketers are responsible for booking seats and taking credit card payments, You will work side by side with an expert for on-the-job training. The box office is bustling with excitement, so if you are computer literate, consider this volunteer position. Volunteers are needed 1 day per week, 9am - 1pm. Each ticketing volunteer works one 4 hour shift per week. The box office is open 3 weeks prior to opening night and remains open through the production. Contact: Jean Moffett Set BuilderThe FTC may be located in small town, but there is nothing small about our productions. The FTC sets are exceptional and capture the imagination. We are always in need to set builders and painters. If you are handy with the hammer or paint brush, or just want to learn more about set creation, try this volunteer position. You could not work with a nicer team of volunteers. Contact: Jean Moffett CostumerWhether your skills are creating fine costumes or simply sewing a button, you might have found your calling as an FTC costume volunteer. FTC costumes range from vintage clothing (I Do! I Do!) to fine 16th-18th C costumes (Shakespeare or Amadeus). Each production needs various costuming skills. Please consider exploring this volunteer opportunity. Contact: Jean Moffett Post Production PartyOn the Thursday after the closing performance, all volunteers involved in the production are invited to an appreciation dinner. Whether you were a cast member, usher, online ticketer, mailer or set builder, you are invited to our big thank you party. Bring your favorite side dish and drink and join us in the celebration. While you are there, learn about our next production and new opportunities to help the FTC. Contact: Jean Moffett MailingsThe FTC sends out a number of mailings to members, potential audience, and general public to ensure the success of each performance. Volunteers help fold, stuff, and label the newsletters and brochures that are mailed. Most mass mailings are handled through a mailhouse.
