Cactus Pear Music Festival

3:00 p.m. - Family Concert: An Aesop Fable plus marimbas and woodwinds. This kid friendly concert introduces children to the woodwind family of instruments. The musical centerpiece is a newly commissioned work by UTSA professor David Heuser, The Golden Axe, a dramatic mini-opera for baritone Timothy Jones, soprano Susan Lorette Dunn and woodwind quintet based on an Aesop fable with an inspiring moral. Excerpts from the evening line up of music are performed along with demonstrations that are fun as well as educational and include a fun series of folksongs for violin and marimba.
